PHOTOGRAPHER

Hello, there! Thanks so much for visiting my website!

Let me give you a little sneak peek into my life! ☺

I'm Quinn & I'm the proud lifetime owner of QB Photography! All twenty-five of my years have been spent here in the gorgeous state of Alaska. I couldn't have asked for a better place to grow up! I owe my photography career to a childhood full of picturesque midnight summer sunsets & the occasional backyard visit from Mr. Black Bear. I remember getting my first digital camera when I was just nine years old. From a very young age, I have always been in awe of cameras, pictures, videos, & just how exactly all of that works. My weekends in elementary school were often spent creating short "movies" (I liked to call them works of art) on my family's brick of a camcorder manufactured in the mid 1990s. A lifetime of curiosity revolving around the concept of memorializing little moments in time led me to begin my journey in professional photography. Come high school, I'm sure all of my friends often got annoyed with my constant random moment-capturing. Fortunately for them (& much to my surprise), this seemingly obnoxious trait somehow magically turned into a gift when we became Seniors! ;)

My graduating year of high school was probably the most eventful year of my life! 2016-17 marked the end of a lot of things for me, but aren't endings really just new beginnings in disguise? If I had to sum up my Senior year using 3 things, it would be: homework, all-nighters, & senior photos! Luckily for my close friends & classmates, I was more than eager to get as many hours behind the lens as possible. To get some hands-on experience from a real pro, I went on the hunt for any local photographer seeking an assistant. I spent several weeks searching to no avail. In the summer of 2016, I was offered the wonderful opportunity of completing an internship with local photographer Gutierrez Photography. Through them, I gained invaluable experience regarding camera gear & equipment, lighting, posing, image processing, and so many more skills! No doubt I would not be where I am today if not for their unwavering guidance, expertise, & friendship! I've also had the blessing of being able to work alongside several other local photographers on various weddings, events, & personal collaborations such as local community giveaways!

Eight years ago, little 18 year old Quinn would not have believed you had you tried to convince her of where she'd be today. My current areas of photographic expertise include: individual portraits, high school senior portraits, couples portraits (engagements, weddings, & elopements), boudoir portraiture, & creative photography. I'll be the first to admit I have a soft spot for capturing maternity, newborns, & births. I really just enjoy anything that involves people or animals as the subject! For me, one of the most fulfilling feelings in the world is being able to capture a moment in time that would otherwise have been lost. Especially touching is the ability to capture genuine moments that the subject believes truly reflects who they are or what is meaningful to them.

When I am not out photographing or secluding myself at home to edit photos, much of my free time is spent volunteering as a Firefighter & EMT, something I have been passionate about since I was in high school. I graduated from Chugiak High School in 2017, & later went on to receive my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Spanish Language from the University of Alaska, Anchorage in 2019. I am bilingual in English & Spanish, both of which I have been speaking since childhood. I really love animals... 10+ terrariums full of frogs & geckos worth, & an aquarium of fish, frogs, shrimp, & snails. I also have three Miniature Australian Shepherds that currently lease 95% of my heart & soul. Some other things I enjoy outside of photography include cooking, hiking, camping, traveling, spending time with family & friends, all the other forms of art, & adventuring around my home state of Alaska. I am unsure of what my future holds, but I'm mostly just trying to make sure I enjoy myself along the way. If you're still reading, congratulations on making it this far! And with that, I will leave you with this life advice:

"Enjoy the little things in life, because one day

you'll look back and realize they were the big things.”
